Discover the transformative benefits of Equine Therapy Capernaum, a unique therapeutic approach that uses the interaction between humans and horses to promote the physical, emotional and psychological well-being of practitioners

In the year 2000, without a definitive space, the service promoted by the Association of Benefits of Unified Public Security Servers (ABESSPU) began, with the aim of providing a better quality of life to children, adolescents, young people, adults and the elderly and promote social protection aimed at guaranteeing life, reducing harm and preventing the incidence of risks, in addition to providing care, integration into community life and promoting income generation.
From 2015, with an increase in the number of consultations, and with attention to the biopsychosocial development of people who sought new therapeutic methods, equine therapy activities began, in a space assigned from a total area of 183 thousand m² belonging to the Jockey Club of São Vicente, located in Parque São Vicente, in São Vicente. That same year, the Capernaum Riding Therapy Center was created with a therapeutic and educational method, recognized by the Federal Council of Medicine.
Due to the loss of the Charter by the Jockey Club, this place was put up for sale, which forced, in 2018, the Centro de Equotherapy Cafarnaum to close the services in that space. Its board of directors, concerned with providing continuity to the project, sought a partnership with Santa Casa de Misericórdia de Santos, which lent land located in Vila Voturuá, in São Vicente, on a lending basis. At this new address, Equotherapy currently maintains a structure that houses seven horses, which makes it possible to serve up to 15 children per day, in a 30-minute relay. However, we have a huge queue of people looking for this type of therapy. The queue is more than 100 people and growing more and more. For this reason, donations are important, because with them we can open more vacancies. To help with the maintenance of the space, we also open the option of horseback riding on days when the therapies are not done.
